Yesterday, I was banned from LPLive, a fansite for Linkin Park, for simply expressing my point of view about bootleg recordings and Crowd interaction.
Now had I attacked either Mark, the owner, or any other member of the site, flamed, used inappropriate behaviour, or been racisat, or discrinatory etc, then I would have understood the reasoning behind him wanting to ban me. Doing so for a difference of opinion however, is just un democratic, and an attack on free speech.
The funniest thing here is that Linkin Park are against censorship and attacks on free speech, and believe in a world where we can all live democratically. So in banning me, not only is Mark being un democratic himself, but is in effect putting the band that his fansite promotes into a bad light also. Cencoring people because of their views, as has happened on numerous occasions, and using heavy handed tactics agasinst those who disagree with their opinion but are willing to discuss such differences, is exactly the same as governments and dictatorships worldwide who’m Linkin Park write music against.
I’d like to urge MarkĀ Terrell, owner of LPLive.net to seriously consider the effects of such censorship, heavy handed tactics and predudice, when making future decisions on the running of his fansite, as being a fansite owner, it is imperitive to ensure that all views in relation to a discussion are heard, and not force a set opinion onto others
